Welcome to Power Day Advanced Pre-K and Kindergarten Reading & Math Full Curriculum!   

⏰This class is 55 minutes in length and meets 1 time per week.  

Helping learners become the best version of their academic selves is my absolute passion and the goal for this course.  The ability to retain knowledge is heavily impacted by one’s FOUNDATION bank.  Engaging & intentional approaches to building/strengthening foundational skills will be provided daily to help ensure learners are prepared to face their next academic level with excitement and confidence.

A.   Agenda

Reading Segment (any combination of the following)

▪️calendar skills-days of the week/months of the year
▪️one letter highlighted each week in depth -identification/sound and more letters of course will be present to help broaden overall understanding
▪️guided writing instruction for the letter of the week
▪️drawing
▪️comprehension
▪️syllables
▪️rhyming
▪️sight words
▪️cvc words/blends
▪️word families
▪️sentence structure


Math Segment (any combination of the following)

▪️Number sense (counting to 100, number identification 1-20, one to one correspondence)
▪️guided writing instruction for the numbers of the week
▪️drawing
▪️shapes (2D/3D)
▪️highlighted mathematical concept full of academic language (Examples: sorting, same/different, patterns, addition, subtraction, measurement, etc.)

🎶The infusion of singing/movement, finger play, social interaction, and games will be strategically positioned to create a well-balanced classroom🎶

👩‍👧‍👦🦋Social Studies/Science will be explored to help maximize learning.

C.  Evaluations

Evaluations will consist of the students’ oral  and written presentation of their daily assignments.  Students will also present their show and tell at the conclusion of the week which will be theme related.

D.  Learning Goals

By the end of this course, students will have deepened their understanding of essential foundational skills needed to secure academic success.  The essential skills include the following:  alphabet knowledge (letter/sound), phonemic awareness, sight words, sentence structure, colors, numbers, shapes, number sense, math concepts and social emotional skills.  



-IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION-

▪️This class is an ongoing class with a weekly subscription that automatically renews on Sunday.  The beautiful thing about ongoing is that you can subscribe, unsubscribe and resubscribe at your convenience.
▪️Subscribing to a class immediately after your desired time slot on Thursday will have you set up for the following week.
▪️Weekly agendas and homework packets in PDF that match the agenda will be provided to further extend learning beyond the classroom.  
▪️All letters of the alphabet are spotlighted one by one to help deepen letter knowledge.  Of course, more letters are present to help broaden overall understanding.
▪️Class expectations are always stated in the beginning of class to help create and maintain a respectful classroom.
▪️All students must show their face upon arrival in the classroom for verification and safety purposes per Outschool policy.
▪️Affirmations are stated daily to build and strengthen inner confidence.  Confidence is key for intrinsic motivation.
▪️Muting happens as a whole group/individually as needed to help regulate background distractions.  This helps to ensure that all my friends can hear and absorb all of the daily agenda.  
▪️Students will have an opportunity to share each class, practice public speaking and let their beautiful light shine.
▪️Important social skills such as taking turns, listening to their classmates and patience will be strengthened along the way. 
▪️I’m a strong believer in the concept that teamwork makes the dreamwork to help students build confidence and eventually more independence.  Parents please be in ready mode to help your child during class as needed.
