The content practiced in the first class will be useful for all of the classes in the course.Week 2Lesson 2Poema do Dia: a poem in PortugueseIn this lesson, we will read an easy and popular poem in Portuguese. We will explore expressions, meaning, and language cadence.Week 3Lesson 3Canção do Dia: a song in PortugueseThis week we will listen to a song in Portuguese together. Listening to songs is a fun and effective way to combine vocabulary and expression learning with language stress and cadence. Learners are encouraged to sing along if they wish.Week 4Lesson 4Gírias: funny expressions that are not what they seemThis lesson is about expressions that are unique to the Portuguese language. Some slangs and everyday phrases that are not easily translated on Google or a dictionary will be presented and practiced.Week 5Lesson 5Como se diz? Asking for help in PortugueseIn this lesson, we will cover the most useful "help" questions in Portuguese, such as: how much something costs, basic directions, clarifications, and even how to explain that your Portuguese skills are limited.Week 6Lesson 6Poema do Dia: another poem in PortugueseThis week we will read another easy and popular poem in Portuguese. We will again explore expressions, meaning, and language cadence.Week 7Lesson 7Notícias: how to understand news and entertainment headlinesIn this lesson, we will read some news pieces together, exploring the headline in detail and skimming through the piece for meaning and context. This is a more challenging class but learners should feel at ease by now.Week 8Lesson 8Tudo junto: reviewing what was learned and role-playing scenarios in PortugueseIn our final lesson, we will script or improvise a few role-play scenarios in Portuguese. We will also review any topics of preference through some games.

- Learners will familiarize themselves with vowel sounds of Portuguese through songs, poems, and role-play.
- Learners will have basic skills of asking for help in an environment where Portuguese is the primary language spoken.
Ms. Lambert was born and raised in Brazil (city of Curitiba) and traveled extensively to Portugal, where her grandparents are from.

The certificate will declare the completion of the course and course level without a specific grade at conclusion.
