Calling all Pokemon fans! Choose your Pokemon and prepare for the journey ahead in the Hoenn Region. Together in this camp, we will train our Pokemon by learning terminology (carrying, place values, etc.), introducing two styles of multiplication and division (old vs. new style) and practice solving various problems in the form of gym leader battles. Are you ready to be the very best and obtain all 8 badges in our journey?
Schedule:
Day 1:
What is Multiplication: Terminology
What is carrying and place values?
Double Digit Multiplication: 2 styles
Old Style
New Style
Poke Battles with Gym leaders: 2-3 Battles (practice problems using either style we learned today)
Extension Activity: This is an optional out of class activity to further practice the concepts we learned in class today.
Day 2:
Review Terminology
Continue mastering Multiplication with more advanced concepts
Double Digit Multiplication Introduction.
Review of the 2 styles of Multiplication (students may use either method)
Gym leader battles (practice problems) of double digit multiplication.
Extension Activity: This is an optional out of class activity to further practice the concepts we learned in class today.
Day 3:
What is Division: Terminology
2-3 Digit Division problems: 2 styles
Old Style
New Style
Poke Battles with Gym leaders: 2-3 Battles (practice problems using either style we learned today)
Extension Activity: This is an optional out of class activity to further practice the concepts we learned in class today.
Day 4:
Review Terminology
Continue mastering Division with advanced problems
Review of the 2 styles of Division (students may use either method)
Gym leader battles (practice problems) and word problems.
Extension Activity: This is an optional out of class activity to further practice the concepts we learned in class today.
Day 5:
Camp review of all content in Jeopardy format
Topics include: double digit multiplication problems, multiplication word problems, 2-3 digit division problems, division word problems and Pokemon Trivia (as a fun reward for all the students' hard work)學習目標
By the end of this camp, students will have experience with double digit multiplication and 2-3 digit division problems using 2 styles. Those two styles being the "Old Style" and the "New Style". Students will also gain experience with terminology and best practices for solving problems. All of this will occur within the Pokemon world while students battle other Pokemon for gym badges.
