The students will learn how to use a place value chart to represent numbers.We will do this by first learning the vocabulary words: number, digit, groups and value. We will look at numbers and talk about the value of each digit in the number. We will use manipulatives to make numbers or draw pictures to make numbers on the place value chart. We will talk about hundreds, tens, and ones using the words digit, groups, and value. Students will answer questions about the numbers and the place...
We will be practicing the common core standard (2.NBT.1) Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases: a. 100 can be thought of as a bundle of ten tens—called a "hundred." b. The numbers 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine hundreds (and 0 tens and 0 ones).
I taught 1st grade for one year and 2nd grade for 6 years. I love to teach math and help students and parent understand common core math.
