In Piano Party: a Summer Camp Intro to Piano, students will learn the basics of piano using games, activities, and group collaboration! Students will learn the finger numbers for the left and right hand, perform songs using both the black and white keys, and improvise their own short songs. Week 1Lesson 1Let's Party!! Intro to the Finger NumbersThis week, we will get to know our classmates and learn the finger numbers for piano! We will play a game called "Roll the Dice" to help remember our finger numbers!Week 2Lesson 2Let's Learn!! Intro to the Black KeysThis week, we will learn to play the black keys and a song called Two Black Birds. We will play a game called "Teacher May I" to help remember what we learned!Week 3Lesson 3Let's Play!! Learn a New SongThis week, we will perform our Two Black Birds song for each other and learn a new song called Three Black Ants. We will play a game called "Find the C" to prepare for learning the white keys next week!Week 4Lesson 4Let's Learn!! Intro to the White KeysThis week, we will perform our Three Black Ants song and learn how to play the white keys. We will play a game called "I Went to the Shops" to help remember what we have learned.Week 5Lesson 5Let's Play!! Mary Had a Little Lamb (Part 1)This week we will learn the first half of the classic song "Mary Had a Little Lamb." We will continue our "I Went to the Shops" game to remember the names of the white keys.Week 6Lesson 6Let's Play! Mary Had a Little Lamb (Part 2)This week we will learn the second half our "Mary Had a Little Lamb" song. We will play a game called "Story Cubes" to begin to learn to write our own songs.Week 7Lesson 7Let's Create! Write our Own Songs!This week, we will perform "Mary Had a Little Lamb" all the way through. Then we will learn to write our own songs.Week 8Lesson 8Let's Celebrate! Performances!This week, we will perform the songs we wrote and our favorite songs from the class. We will play our favorite games from the class to celebrate.
- At the end of this course, students will be able to 1) name the finger numbers for the piano for right and left hand 2) perform 2 songs using one hand on the black keys 3) perform a song using one hand on the white keys 4) improvise their own short songs
I have my bachelors of music in music education as well as a California teaching credential in music. I have seven years of experience in the classroom as an elementary music teacher and private instruction in piano.
