This is an introductory class to syllables. Syllables make up the foundation of the English language. Once a child can identify the 6 syllable types, the child's reading and spelling skills will improve. The student will be able to decode (read) and encode (spell) multi-syllabic words with ease. This overview will give students a mini lecture on each type of syllable with a chance to identify words within each pattern and try to think of their own. Students will learn about open, closed,...
Students will be able to identify and define the 6 syllable types. Students will be able to mark words from each syllable type. Students will be able to break down multi-syllabic words for reading and spelling.
Students might wish to have a dry erase board and marker, pencil and paper, or a word document to write or type some of the words. Learners may also just follow along with the teacher on screen.
