In this ongoing class, we will learn a new consonant sound, vowel sound, or 2 word families every time we meet. These are skills typically taught in the first semester of Kindergarten. In each class, we will practice the sound at the beginning, middle and/or end of words. We will do listening (phonemic awareness) and reading/writing (phonics) practice. As we learn sounds, we will use them to blend into words, and then play a game with our new words. Finally, we will end the class with...
Students will hear the new sound in words. Students will identify the new sound in written words. Students will practice blending sounds in words to read them. Students will sort words by different sounds and/or spellings. Students will participate in reading a decodable reader using new sounds
