Guinea pigs are a common pet for young children, due to their calm demeanor, easy care, and soft fur. I am excited to share what I know about guinea pig care with your young learner, to inspire some responsibility and excitement in caring for a small animal. I believe responsibility and care for others is something to be learned at a young age. Along with how to care for the animal, I will also demonstrate how to properly and carefully hold and pet a guinea pig. This will provide a great opportunity for your child to see what to do, so they may be ready to meet a guinea pig in person, some day! Care topics: - Housing and bedding - Food and water - Fun facts about guinea pigs - How to hold and pet a guinea pig (safely, carefully, and without scaring the animal) This class will mainly be discussion based, with plenty of time for questions during the "meet and greet" time with the guinea pig. I love to engage students in conversation. I guide the conversation so everyone gets a chance to speak and listen, while also making sure the necessary material is discussed. No previous knowledge is needed. Please refrain from bringing other pets to class, so as to keep the focus on guinea pigs and this class. Thank you!

Parental guidance is suggested when "meeting" the guinea pig, as this experience can be exciting for young children. This experience will be in the last 5-10 minutes of class.
