Classes will be half-hour-long individual lessons in percussion. Lessons will be tailored to the individual students' needs, abilities, and interests, so they can vary widely, and will cover a broad range of topics. Lessons for beginning students will start with basic technique and snare drum rudiments. If students are interested in learning mallet percussion (such as xylophone, bells, marimba), we will begin with technique and scales. But as students become more comfortable, they are...
To begin, students will need a pair of drumsticks, and a drum or practice pad to play on. Students learning mallet percussion will need a pair of mallets and a keyboard instrument to play on. This could be a set of bells you own, or an instrument they have access to at school, like a marimba or xylophone.
