In this ongoing class, we will practice a different blend or vowel combo each week. =) Each class, we will begin by identifying our new blend/vowel combo. We will incorporate whole body learning into each blend/vowel combo by using hand/arm motions and acting out our new word combinations. For example, when practicing "sh" words, we will put a finger to our mouths and say "shhhhhh" to help us remember what this blend says. After we identify what our new blend/vowel combination says, we will practice reading words that incorporates this letter pattern. Each student will have a chance to read a few of our new words and match its correlating picture. After we read our new words, we will build our fluency skills by reading our new words in a story. This story will be sent before each class as an optional practice book for students to use during and/or after class. ***Students should be able to identify most or all of their Pre-Primer and Primer Sight Words. The sentences we will practice will include words from the PrePrimer and Primer lists. =) I will assist a student if they are unfamiliar in reading any Pre-Primer or Primer word. =)

Hi! My name is Nicole Marder. =) I grew up with a passion for teaching. My mom was a Kindergarten teacher for thirty three years and I followed in her footsteps and became a Kindergarten teacher as well! I subbed for grades K-12 for three years while in college and taught for four years before I had my son. I took an extended maternity leave, but I have continued my educational journey and tutored students from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.
While subbing, teaching in a public school, and tutoring; I found whole body movement, singing, using silly phrases, and drawing were essential to each student's success. There is no identical learner and it is so important to meet each student's learning needs to optimize learning!!
I love having fun and being silly while teaching! Students need to have a class setting where it is fun and where they don't have to worry about getting an answer wrong! I tell my son on a daily basis that mistakes are vital to learning!
