5 小時 30 分鐘 上課時間作業
每週 2-4 小時. Students will be assigned 2-3 chapters to read per class meeting. They will be provided with a worksheet each week to guide them in their reading. This worksheet will have questions to think about while they are reading. It will also have space for them to write down any unfamiliar words or phrases as well as space to write down any questions they have about the story. They will also be given a weekly writing assignment that will guide them to rewrite a portion of the Narnia story or reflect on the story in some way. Each week's writing assignment should only be one page long. Students should spend no more than 4 hours each week on this class. I want it to be a joy, not a burden.評估

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.” When Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are sent away from their home to live with a kind professor, they discover that an old wardrobe in the spare room is hiding a secret. Join the Pevensie children as the discover the magical and wonderful land of Narnia and help save it from a terrible witch and a long winter! During this class, students will read C.S. Lewis's book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and complete writing assignments connected to the story. Learners will learn to engage the books they read by discussing how characters are interacting with each other and why and also exploring themes that arise throughout the story. Learners will be provided a worksheet every week with questions to guide them in their reading. These worksheets will also have space for learners to make note of difficult words and phrases as well as any questions they may have about the story itself. Every week, learners will also complete a writing assignment. Their writing assignments will guide them to rewrite parts of the story with new circumstances (What if this story took place in the current year? What if the children made a different choice at a crucial moment?) and reflect on important moments in the story (What gift would Father Christmas give Edmund?). Through the stories the learners write, they will explore together how our choices affect more than just us and how stories from long ago can still be relatable today. I will provide examples each week to give learners inspiration for their own stories. Learners will be expected to turn in these assignments electronically (for example, through Google Docs) so I can provide feedback on their writing to help them grow as writers. Learners will also be expected to share their stories in class every week. My goal as a teacher is to be a guide. I will facilitate discussions and encourage students to both give voice to their thoughts and be kind to others as they voice their own. Each lesson will be highly interactive. Students should be prepared to participate in discussions and share from what they have written each week. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this class. Students only need to bring a love for reading and discussion! Lesson One: Discuss chapters 1-2 Lesson Two: Discuss chapters 3-5; present first writing assignment Lesson Three: Discuss chapters 6-8; present second writing assignment Lesson Four: Discuss chapters 9-11; present third writing assignment Lesson Five: Discuss chapters 12-14; present fourth writing assignment Lesson Six: Discuss chapters 15-17; present fifth writing assignment

Hello! My name is Rose Bradway. I am excited to meet you! My class offerings include book clubs, writing classes, and more. As a lifelong bookwyrm and writer, I'm passionate about helping my students learn the joy of discovering new worlds in books and creating their own through writing.
I have a bachelor's in counseling (with a minor in Koine Greek) and a master's in theological studies. During the course of my academic career, I took classes on history, philosophy, psychology, education, and even a computer science class. In my three years on Outschool, I have helped my students discover a love for reading, gain confidence in their writing, and more. I have taught in a variety of settings from online to in person with any number of students from one to ten or more. I enjoy teaching students of all ages but especially middle school and high school.
The world is a big, wide, beautiful place. I aim to foster curiosity and a sense of wonder in my students as we discuss stories and write them. My philosophy behind teaching is that everyone is capable of learning if given the opportunity. I plan my lessons for maximum student engagement. I want my students to love learning and discovering new things. I am their guide, their encouragement, and the person for them to fall back on when they get stuck. I hope each of my students can leave each class excited to engage the world around them. In my free time I love reading, writing, exploring used book stores, and going on hikes. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
