課堂經歷
Students will have assigned reading to complete prior to each class (except first class) I will provide a syllabus during the first class that outlines the reading assignments due for each class. I will post the homework (guided reading questions) for students to complete prior to the next session in the Outschool classroom. The class will be a Socratic seminar, reliant on the participation and preparation of attendees. Students will be encouraged to share their interpretations of the story and make predictions. As we work through the course, we will discuss the development of the plot/characters, figurative language, various conflicts, and thematic elements, and try to solve the crime! Here is an approximate outline of the reading assignments for the course (this may change based on student need/progress in the class): Read Chapters 1 & 2 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 3 & 4 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 5 & 6 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 7 & 8 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 9 & 10 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 11 & 12 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 13 & 14 & Guided Reading questions Read chapters 15 & 16 & Guided Reading questions Epilogue & Letter & Guided Reading questions Final project (Book review, etc --various options will be provided for a project.)

-Describe major characters and plot developments
-Analyze the text for figurative language (ie. Symbolism, flashback, conflict, mood, tone, etc.)
-Explain major themes
-Verbally articulate their opinions of the novel

Students need a copy of the book: And Then There Were None I personally use the following: Title: And Then There Were None Author: Agatha Christie ISBN: 0-312-97947-9 There are also audio versions. If the student chooses an audio version, I would highly recommend that they are taking notes while listening (characters, time stamps, etc). I will also post weekly discussion questions. Students may choose to write down their answers in a notebook or type them. I will not collect them; they are for student reference only and guide discussion. Therefore, the student may need a notebook/paper to take notes.
