In two of my favorite classes I’ve ever done, we look into multiple incredible museum artifacts from around the world! Week one we look at the Mona Lisa, the Hope Diamond, Japanese Helmets, and the “Bubble Boy” NASA suit! Week two we look at the Vasa war ship, automatons from multiple European countries, and the story of Stumpy the Pigeon! Class structure is a quick meet and greet time, followed by a PowerPoint class (where students mute their microphones), followed by a question and answer period! Class is typically around an hour long, but can go long depending on how many questions the students have at the end of the class, but you’re always welcome to leave when you need!

This class is mostly fun topics- but the Vasa war ship we briefly talk
about it’s sinking, which includes the death of crewman, and later the discovery of their bodies.

I utilize many books and websites when researching and cross referencing my classes. In this particular class I used books The Sinking of the Vasa: A Shipwreck of Titanic Proportions by Russell Freedman, Hope Diamond: The Legendary Story of the Cursed Gem by Richard Kurin, and Mona Lisa: The History of the World’s Most Famous Painting by Donald Sassoon. There are other reference books if parents are interested. I also use websites History.com, Britannica.com, and Smithsonian.com, amongst other.
