This one time class serves as a great introduction to the world of mycology. We'll discuss mushrooms, fungus, and learn to see how fungus is integral to soil health. Students will observe how fungus can communicate and learn, and how Mycelium might help trees communicate with one another as well. Our class will also discuss mushrooms, and the incredible potential of this 'floor fruit.' Looking at the conditions where mushrooms thrive, we'll discuss why some fungi spawn mushrooms, while...
Students will learn basic mycology theory, and will learn about the genetic origins of fungus. Students will learn skills in identifying mushrooms and fungus, and will learn of the lifecycle for these organisms.
I have a Bachelors in Environmental Science & Policy from Florida State University, where I studied mushrooms as a part of connected ecosystems. I'm a passionate truffle and mushroom hunter and am grateful for a platform to share about the incredible fungi of the forest!
