Students will: 
participate in an online book club in a fun and engaging way
practice oral language skills to communicate with others in the class. 
strengthen their writing skills as we work to respond and write based on the nonfiction facts.
have opportunities to read aloud to others (if desired) to help fluency and oral reading skills. practice proper sentence writing (capitalization, punctuation, etc..) when engaged in any of our writing activities.

I am excited to offer this class on Outschool as my son is a huge fan of the My Weird School series. We love reading them together and it's been the spark that has ignited his desire to read. Once a reluctant reader, these books have pulled him into the school world of AJ and his friends and he has been reading ever since!  
As an experienced and Nationally Board Certified teacher, I look forward to helping develop or continue your child's love of reading with this series. Reading is my passion and a book club is a great way for your child to engage in reading in a meaningful way. I love to connect other areas of learning and these nonfiction books create a natural way to integrate other subject areas.
You'll find my enthusiastic style and upbeat personality helps kids feel comfortable in a group setting. I love working with all learners and work to create a positive learning environment. I hope you'll check out my book club and share in the joy of reading!

Students will be asked to read 2 - 3 chapters outside of class. If they fall behind, they are still welcome to join in the following week. 

I will provide optional "challenges" to provide your child to engage with the text outside of class. Any work that families wish to be reviewed by the teacher can be sent to me for feedback.
