課堂經歷

In this class students will learn the definition of activism, discuss what it looks and sounds like, and learn about young activists making a difference in their community. The class utilizes discussion, slides and worksheets I provide in the classroom.

Class begins with introductions and expectations, then we get into the definition of activism and dive into the topic. We end the class by summarizing our learning. No previous knowledge or experience required.

Students will only need the device to access the class and the workbook pages or notebook paper and a pencil.
學習目標
Students will learn what activism is, how and why to become an activist and examples of other young activists. The young activists focused on in the course are
Mari Copeny - young activist in Flint
Asean Johnson - young activist in Chicago
Melati and Isabel Wijsen - young activists in Bali
"Teens 4 Equality" - young activists in Nashville.

I created My Voice, a student activism program for upper elementary students, in 2019. As an educator of almost a decade I know how important it is to empower students to use their voice and speak up. Through the program I encourage students to be active, vocal community members. I have run the program as an after school club as well as a summer camp.
