Home Science Tools (homesciencetools.com) is not the only place to purchase a dissection kit or the three specimens; however, they are who I personally use because they are very cost effective. They have a dissection kit for $5.60, the earthworm cost is $1.30, the starfish is $3.30, and the clam is $3.30.  Amazon also has a dissection kit for roughly $10. 

You will need to purchase one earthworm, one starfish, and one clam along with a dissection kit. You will also need two uncooked hot dogs for our first class. 
Students will also need a clean place to work on their dissection (it can get messy!) so a paper plate, plate, paper towels....something that is easy to clean up.

Dissection

Dissection kits contain sharp tools. It is at the discretion of the parent to make sure your student is mature enough to independently operate them during a dissection. We will also be using the term, reproductive glands. The earthworm contains both male and female reproductive glands, some starfish have quite large reproductive glands and others don't depending on the maturity of the specimen, and the clam will have reproductive glands as well. Though we do not go into detail on this organ system beyond naming it and dissecting it, it will be mentioned. Please make sure you and your learner are comfortable with this before enrolling.
