Our class will read My Father's Dragon. I have created a beautiful replication the text and illustrations of My Father's Dragon on Canva in which to share screen on Zoom! with your learner. We will recognize character animals and evaluate Elmer's meeting with each one. Mrs. Gail will read aloud. Learners will naturally learn about the content of a book along the way. My Father's Dragon particularly allows learners to notice how parts of a book are built. Through the course of reading, natural components of this book will be highlighted. We will explore the Newberry Honor Medal award. Maps and the compass rose will be introduced. Learners will complete a "story elements" graphic organizer or a dragon coloring page at option. We will complete comprehension activities that will keep your learner thinking about Elmer's adventures! This story is always sure to please!

Learner will build vocabulary and explore story elements. Your learner will enjoy naturally learning about literature geared for understanding literature usage at their developmental level.
