CLASS FREQUENCY: This class meets once a week for 45 minutes each session. CLASS EXPERIENCE: *In this class, students will listen to many different types of music, ranging from classical to jazz to world musics. *For each listening example, students will listen to the sounds and translate them into some kind of visual representation (such as a drawing or painting). In other words, as they listen, students will be thinking about and responding to the question: what does the music look like to...
Students will have an opportunity to hone their creativity, imagination, and critical listening skills in this musical-artistic activity. Students will translate what they hear in the sounds of a wide-ranging selection of musics to pen and paper (or any artistic implement!).
Students can either use the teacher-provided handouts to draw their musical artwork, or may use any paper they have available. Students may use any artistic writing implement that is available to them (pencil, pen, colored pencils, crayons, paintbrush, etc.).
