This class is designed for students with some basic experience in playing the ukulele and should be comfortable playing the C chord and F chord independently. Class activities will focus on two main areas:

Students will learn a total of four songs over the four class sessions. Music playing skills will have two primary areas of focus:

 - Learning chords. Chord-focused songs will expand the student's knowledge of chords to include G, A, and D. Emphasis in instruction will draw student attention to hand position in addition to finger placement, and direct finger placement for improved movement between chords. Most songs use more than one chord, so effective playing of chords involves not only the memorization of the spots on the fretboard to place one's fingers but also the knowledge of which fingers to use and how to position the hand to facilitate movement to and from each chord. 
 - Playing strumming patterns. Strumming patterns vary either the direction of the strum, the rhythmic pattern of the strum, or both.

Students will also be introduced to reading melodies from tablature, and learn to play a song notated in ukulele tablature.
