What will be taught? -This course teaches essential math skills through interactive Minecraft activities. Students will explore concepts such as equations, geometry, number operations, measurements, and data handling by engaging in Minecraft builds and challenges. What topics will be covered? -Equations: Understanding equality, solving equations, and applying strategies to solve math puzzles. -Geometry: Building and measuring 2D shapes, calculating area and perimeter, and applying geometry to create structures. -Number Operations: Practicing multiplication, and division in interactive, real-world scenarios. -Measurements and Data: Measuring objects, collecting data, and presenting data through charts. How is the class structured? Each class focuses on a math concept and follows this structure: -Introduction to the topic with a quick overview. -Hands-on activity in Minecraft to apply the concept in a fun, relevant way. Guided reflection and review to reinforce learning and address any questions. How will we teach? -Classes are conducted live in a Minecraft environment where I guide students through tasks, provide real-time support, and encourage them to experiment and solve challenges. Minecraft is used as an engaging platform to visualize and apply math concepts practically. Our teaching style? -Our teaching style is interactive and student-centered. I encourage questions and adapt lessons to meet students’ needs and interests. I provide clear instructions, then step back to let students explore, helping only as needed to foster independence. How much will learners get to interact with us? -Lecture: I’ll introduce concepts briefly at the beginning. Games and Challenges: Minecraft activities make up the majority of our time, as students engage in challenges designed to teach math concepts. -Discussions and Reflection: Each class ends with a review of what was learned, where students can share their work and discuss their ideas. -Live Feedback: I provide immediate feedback and support as students work through activities.

-Students will create a “Shape Gallery” displaying various 2D shapes with descriptions.

If the student wants to join the world and play together they will need: - Minecraft BEDROCK edition - which is available on PC, Xbox, Playstation, Mobile, Nintendo Switch, and more! - Signed into your Microsoft account (so we can add each other as friends) If the student wants to join to work on their world and talk about Minecraft with others but NOT play on the server, the above is not required. Note: Bedrock version does not work on Mac.
