Students will be assigned a weekly spelling list. During live classes we will discuss patterns in the words and spelling rules as they apply. Five commonly misspelled/misused words are included in each list. We will also discuss proper usage and share creative work. Instruction follows the Phono-Graphix method for teaching reading and spelling. This method was developed with the dyslexic learner in mind. A list of 30 words will be provided. Daily assignments will be given and expect a test...
Students will learn proper spelling of fifth-eighth grade level words and their usage in the English language. Special focus on phonemic awareness, frequently misspelled words, homophones, and words that just don't fit the "rules".
I am a state certified Elementary Teacher who has become aware of the absence of structured spelling instruction in the schools today. In my private reading tutoring practice, I have watched my students become strong and independent spellers by using my approach.
