Hello and welcome to math class! I have been an 8th grade math teacher for the past 8 years and I am currently a 6th grade math teacher. 

Volume is one of the most important concepts for students to learn in middle school as it requires a certain formula in order to solve the volume of a certain shape.

This class will be a 4 day camp covering the 3 volumes which are of spheres, cylinders & cones. By the end of the camp students will be able to know how to solve both word problems and picture problems.

I will start class by introducing ourselves and then we will go into learning what volume is and how to solve for it.

Students will learn how to get the answer in terms of pie and with pie (3.14). If time allows we will play a fun game where students have to solve the volume of the given cards.

As a fun enrichment activity I will be asking students to bring an object to class each day in the shape of a cone, cylinder and sphere in order for them to solve their own volume of a shape. Students will be comparing the different volumes that each student got and see who has the greatest volume

Note that students will need a calculator for class to ensure that they find the volume of the object. Students will also need a measuring tape to get the radius of the object

We will play a fun game of Kahoot for extra reinforcement on the 4th day and review any misconceptions that students may have not understood throughout the camp. 

Students will need a separate device to play Kahoot and no registration is required. I will provide students with a code so that we can all login and play. This will be a friendly competition and it will be for fun.

Day 1: Volume of a Cylinder (bring item shaped like a cylinder)

Day 2: Volume of a cone (bring item shaped like a cone)

Day 3: Volume of a sphere ( bring item shaped like a sphere)

Day 4: Students will play a game of Kahoot to reinforce all taught objectives of volume and play a fun game mystery picture using all three formulas. The mystery picture will be send in an excel file
