CLASS LAYOUT

Each class, we will start by introducing ourselves in French. We will learn a vocabulary set by learning the French translations of English words. Students will be asked to practice saying the words and phrases.

We will also learn a related grammar point, and students will complete a group activity in order to practice.

Then, students will be given a conversation topic (with a worksheet to guide their conversation) to work through in breakout rooms.* With their classmate(s), they will have a simple conversation mostly in French, while writing down any words they don’t know or forgot. Back in the main room, we will look at the vocabulary gaps and work on filling them.

We will also complete an activity in order to apply what we learn. The activities may include drawing, writing, reading, etc. During some activities that include a visual component, I will speak in French as much as possible.

I have been learning French for 9 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 4 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a C1 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French online for two years.

I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education. I attended a 7-week summer French immersion camp through Middlebury College.

I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
