課堂經歷
In this hands-on and sometimes messy camp, students will be introduced to fractions. From creating fractions with play-dough to adding fractions with shaving cream, students will learn what fractions are, how to represent them, compare them as well as add and subtract them (with common denominators). Confused about the difference between a numerator and denominator? Not any more! Students will make a vocabulary flip book that they can reference long after camp is over to remind them all about fractions! Time will also be devoted at the beginning of each class for students to connect and build community through show and tell, songs and other "get to know you" activities. Cameras must be on for the entirety of all of the classes. All learners must be enrolled students; if two learners are sharing a device, both learners must be enrolled per Outschool policies. SEG does not do last minute transfers, after the limited cancellation period has expired. Kristen Rusnack grew up in a small town in upstate NY and ever since she was a small child she knew she was going to be a teacher who would change the lives of children for the better. Kristen holds a B.A in Elementary Education and has a Masters degree in Reading. She was voted teacher of the year in 2011, the year right before she decided to become a stay at home mom for the next 5 years. Kristen has taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Virginia and when she moved back to NY to be with family. She has taught UPK and is currently teaching Kindergarten. Kristen has experience with all different types of children, from students of special needs to gifted and talented students. Kristen has tutored children over the years before and after school as well. Kristen’s passion for teaching is evident in her enthusiastic lessons. She has a strong desire to see all students excel and doesn’t let anything get in the way of achieving that. She believes all students are capable of learning if they are engaged. Kristen strives to incorporate high interest, fun, interactive lessons to her students. She currently lives in a log cabin in the country with her 2 children, husband, dog, and 2 cats. She and her family enjoy the outdoors- together they enjoy going camping, hiking, swimming, and fishing. Her family are Penn State fans! Kristen loves to bake and to try new recipes.
