This class is a combination of the popular Math Talks: Mental Math and the Basic Facts and Math Talks: Making Friendly Tens. It will provide a great introduction to mental math for young learners. Math Talks are an effective way to build learner confidence with numbers while developing an understanding of adding and subtracting numbers. During this live class learners will interact with both the teacher and other students to solve problems one and two-digit addition and subtraction...
Students will further develop an understanding of tens and mental math strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 30. Strategies include friendly tens, breaking numbers into place value, removing in chunks and adding up.
I have been focusing on improving math instruction and feel very passionate about building a positive math mindset in students of all ages. Most importantly, I have watched many students build a solid math foundation through participating in math talks.
