課堂經歷
This is an ongoing class that uses play as a tool for learning. The intentions of this class is to introduce math to learners in a way that is playful and fun. Class begins by learners creating 4 boxes on their paper. The teacher will briefly show learners how to fold their paper to create the boxes. We will number each box 1-4 to begin the class. The teacher will use oversized dice and the white board feature on zoom, as a learning tool for the class. Each box will contain one math problem drawn out in the form of a story. This class will focus on the foundations for multiplication and division, mainly using grouping methods.

Hi my name is Haley. I love to teach playful classes that inspire storytelling, problem solving, and connection. My teaching practice has been influenced by the Social Constructivist and Reggio Emilia approach to learning. In Reggio Emilia, “the image of a child is viewed as strong, capable, competent, and full of potential.” For the social constructivist perspective I refer to Vygotsky's quote, “It is through others that we develop into ourselves." In my practice this means creating a SAFE, INCLUSIVE, KIND, and PLAYFUL environment for all. Creating a space that supports learner AGENCY is top priority. Learners are seen as co-creators of their play, and the role of the teacher is to facilitate conversation and highlight learning opportunities. Keeping the "Whole Child" in mind, my goal is to support the academic, physical, cognitive, and social emotional needs of all learners.
