Learners will build fluency with addition and subtraction of numbers within 20 through a variety of fun math games. These include instructional games that use common materials from home (like a deck of cards) along with printable materials. The intent of this class is to give learners an opportunity to practice addition and subtraction facts using numbers 1-29 in a fun way that helps learners build fluency through repetition. Learners will need to come to class with the following materials: (1) a deck of playing cards, (2) 25 small counters (like cereal, buttons, or pennies), and (3) printed materials available in the Outschool Classroom. Printable activities will be available in the Outschool Classroom and can be downloaded and printed prior to class. The class atmosphere will be fun and engaging for learners. Parents are invited and encouraged to participate. This class is appropriate for advanced young learners (age 5), first graders (ages 6-7), and older learners who would benefit from a review of addition and subtraction strategies within 20. 

Week 1: Learners will play 3 different math games to practice adding and subtracting 10 and adding the sum of two numbers.

Week 2: Learners will re-visit the games from Week 1 and learn a new game to practice fluency with addition and subtraction of numbers within 20.

Week 3: Learners will re-visit the games from Week 1 and Week 2 and learn a new game to practice fluency with addition and subtraction of numbers within 20.
