Confidence and verbal capability are the two foundations of good public speaking, and this class will be a safe space for students to master both skills. By using games, challenges and tournaments each week, I will encourage the class to shed their fear of speaking up and get to the point where they can feel so comfortable speaking in a group that they are able to just focus on content because their oratory skills are second nature. I am informal and relaxed, and strive to make the class...
Students will build confidence and learn the skills necessary to be an effective speaker in a variety of settings. We will cover class presentations, speaking for clarity and effectiveness, debate and verbal arguments and techniques, and how to deal with unexpected distractions. Throughout the class we will focus on commanding the room and talking for maximum effect.
