We will be covering the Ancient Indus valley civilization and the geography of the Indian subcontinent. The Aryan invasions of the subcontinent, the writing of the Vedas and the birth of Hinduism. The major gods of the Hindu pantheon and some of the most important Hindu festivals. The life of Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) and the creation/teachings of Buddhism. Finally we will learn about the rule of Ashoka the Great.

I utilize a student-centered approach and encourage asking questions, group discussions, and critical thinking. I love learning about history myself and hope to also foster a love of learning and inquisitiveness for my students.

Students will enjoy interaction with their peers through discussions, and short video field trips. Worksheets will be provide to enhance the learning of the material.
