國語會話營 - Pt. 0 拼音及聲調

This is a the pre-camp for the Conversation Camp 3-part series. If your student has never learned Chinese before they can start with this class to get a better grasp of the pinyin alphabet and the tonal system in use in Mandarin. While we will have a little pinyin and tone refresher in part 1 of the camp it will be a much smoother start if they have a foundation in pinyin.

We will use videos, practical comparisons to English sounds and linguistic advice for how to maneuver the tongue and mouth to make the different sounds in the language. 

Each day of the 2 week camp will have 3 parts:
10 minutes - pinyin video
10 minutes - pinyin review
10 minutes - new pinyin sounds

Week 1:

10 minutes - Introductions
5 minutes - Pinyin video Introduction
10 minutes - First 7 consonants - b, p, m, f, g, k, h
5 minutes - Homework explanation and introduction

Class 2
5-10 minutes - Video
10 minutes - Second 7 consonants - d, t, n, l, j, q, x
10-15 minutes - 5 tones explanation and practice

Class 3 
5-10 minutes - Video
10 minutes - First set of vowels - i, o, e, ei
10 minutes - 5 tone practice
5 minutes - review old sounds

Class 4
5-10 minutes - Video
10 minutes - Second set of vowels - oi, in, ing, iong, ong
10 minutes - 5 tone practice
5 minutes - review old sounds


Class 5
5 minutes - Video
10 minutes - Third set of vowels - en, eng, ie, a
5  minutes - 5 tone practice
10 minutes - culture conversation


Week 2:
Class 6
5-10 minutes - Video
10 minutes - Fourth set of vowels - ai, ao, an, ang, u
10 minutes - 5 tone practice
5 minutes - review old sounds


Class 7
5-10 minutes - Video
10 minutes - Fifth set of vowels - ia, iao, ian, iu, iang, ua
10 minutes - 5 tone practice
5 minutes - review old sounds

Class 8
5-10 minutes - Video

5 minutes - review old sounds

10 minutes - Seventh set of vowels - uang, ueng, ü(v), üe, üan, ün
10 minutes - 5 tone practice
