每週 1-2 小時. Optional: Students can work on their comics in between class times, as well as during class. If they want to have comics that more than a few panels in length (which is basically just a comic strip), they would need to work on it between class times. (See ITINERARY section above.) I am available in between classes if any students have any questions and give feedback. They can either send me a private message on Outschool or post their question on the Outschool page. If they have comic panels that they would like me to look at, they can send me those as well. While classes are normally 50-55 minutes, I am willing to stay on Zoom sometimes after class if a student needs help with their comics.評估

Visit my profile or message me for info on the class. Students will create out their own comic strips (like Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, etc.). Students will plan out their ideas and characters, going through the whole process of planning, penciling, lettering, and inking on paper. The final part of coloring and editing their work would be done on the computer to give their comic a more professional look. The students comics would be printed/published in a magazine which publishes comics and artwork created by kids. Thousands of copies of the magazine are printed per issue. These comics would be distributed to schools and comic books stores for other children to read. This class covers the fees for the student's printed/shipping of comics. USA Students would receive at least 30 Cartoon Avenue comic books. 📢 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘: Due to the high cost of shipping to foreign countries, learners in this class from outside the USA will get 9+ comic books instead of 30. 🚚 𝙎𝙀𝙀 𝘽𝙀𝙇𝙊𝙒 for comic book printing schedules. The comic magazine would feature comics made by everyone in these classes. **NOTE: This class may meet once a week for 4-weeks OR "camp-style" in which it will meet four straight days for a week.** ✨ITINERARY✨ 📣 Students will learn how to create, edit, and color their comic stories. Artwork will be done on paper, then scanned and edited on computer. (If student has a computer tablet and wishes to use that instead, let me know prior to class.) 【Day 1】 ✔️ The students will learn the rules on making a comic for the class. ❖ The rules will also available on the classroom page. ❖ Students have to create their own characters, not copy others (like Spiderman and Batman, for example). ❖ Rules include following the template guides, which will also be available on the classroom page. ✔️ The students think of ideas for their short comic story. ✔️ Students learn about Splash Panels. ❖ Students might even start working on splash panels, if there is time. 📝 For Homework, students plan out their stories. They will need to have a penciled splash panel ready for the next class. ❖ Students may send their penciled panels for the instructor to look over, if they want. If students get approval from the instructor, they may ink the panel early, if they want. But DO NOT color the panel. 🚨 NONE of their panels should be inked yet, unless learner gets permission from instructor. 【Day 2】 ✔️ Instructor will check student panels to make sure they are ready to ink. ❖ It is important to make sure that the spelling/grammar of the text is correct. ❖ The text must also not be too small, should be in capitals (like in comic books), and is readable. ❖ Some captions may be required to tell the reader what is going on. ✔️ Students will ink their comics, and then erase ALL the pencils. ✔️ Students will pencil their other panels. 📝 For Homework, students work on their other panels. Any panels that are inked (and pencils erased), should be scanned onto their computer and ready for next class. ❖ Students MAY NOT work on more than 4 panels at one time. (They can work on more panels after the first 4 are COMPLETELY done and the instructor says you can make more.) ❖ Students must first have the instructor look over the panels, before they can ink them (and erase the pencils). ❖ Students DO NOT color the panel. They will be colored later on the computer. 🚨 NONE of their panels should be inked yet, unless learner gets permission from instructor. 【Day 3】 ✔️ Direct Instruction: Students will follow along with the teacher as he shows them how to edit their comic panels on the computer. The teacher also shows them how to color their artwork as well. ✔️ Students will edit and color their comic art. 【Day 4】 ✔️ With the assistance of the teacher, they will setup the layout of the comic book panels onto the page. ❖ Layout Page Templates will be available to download prior to class. 📝 For Homework: If students are not finished, they will have at least a week after the last day to finish their comics. (Exact due dates will be given during class and on the classroom page.) ❖ Students may submit their comics via posting in Outschool's student messaging section If students have their own file sharing place (like Dropbox), they may share it that way as well. ❖ Any comic panels submitted, after the last day is over, without the proper editing or approval of the instructor will be rejected. Communication, visuals, and hands-on instruction are all the things that are important in helping the students get a better understanding of the subject.

Please be sure all comic stories are school appropriate for young audiences. I cannot allow any content with nudity, violence, profanity, or adult content into the classroom.
I have questions from parents, asking how much violence is acceptable.
I try to keep the comic book rated E-7, which is for everyone 7 and up (similar to a TV-Y7 film rating). A good example of action cartoon that is rating for 7-year-olds and older is "Batman the Animated series". The cartoon has guns, but no one is seen getting hit... In one episode Commissioner Gordon gets shot, but its offscreen and we find him later in the hospital recovering. Characters can get hurt, but its bruises and scratches with only drops of blood. And if a character dies, the character dies off screen. (Here is a sample video from the show: https://youtu.be/sT43MClzowM)
As the comic books will be published in actual comic book stores and other places, I also cannot allow comics with characters copyrighted by someone else. No Mickey Mouse, Avengers, Superman, Batman, etc. (Unless its a parody of those characters.)
I've also had questions from parents if their children keep the rights to their creations, and if they are allowed to sell the comic books that they receive. I don't keep any rights for the kids creations, except for the permission to use in the comic magazine (as stated in this listing). The type of rights that I have is basically that of a non-exclusive license agreement, where I have permission to use the student's comics in my magazine and that's it... The learners still have all the rights to whatever they want with their comics. (If parents are interested would like to get a copyright for their child's creation, let me know and I can assist them with that.)

That way the instructor will be able to see what the student is doing and be able to help the student, if he or she is having any difficulties. ✓ Scanner or Camera If you don't have a scanner, there are special apps for Smartphones and Tablets that can make your device act like a scanner. The one that I use and recommend is called 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿. If the student has a program they are already familiar with, they can use that program. If they don't have an art program to use, I would recommend 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗸 𝗦𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸, which has a lot of great drawing tools. Photoshop and Photopea would also work. ✓ 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 or 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮 for doing layout. Students are required to do layout. I can do it for them. But I recommend that trying it out, to get an idea on what its like. I am a professional cartoonist, writer, and comic book publisher. I have published comic books, comic strips, children's books, and graphic novels throughout the world. I print around 2000 to 4000 comic books per issue released. I use various printers in Canada, South Korea, and Hong Kong for my printing.
