In this fun and exciting class, your child will take an adventure to ancient Japan where they will learn about the secrets of the Ninjas! They will be so excited and captivated by the lesson content that they won't even notice that they are becoming better readers. Since this class is reading based, your child will need to be able to read at a basic level and be at least somewhat comfortable with reading aloud. This book has a reading level of 1.9. Each class will be structured as follows: 

During the first 3 days of class, we will read the book together stopping after each chapter to discuss important details, find key words and vocabulary, practice short summarizing and predictions, and answer chapter comprehension questions. On the last day, we will discuss the story as a class. We will practice activities such as sequencing the events of the story, review the content of the book through comprehension questions, and identify the plot and characters of the story. 

In each class, students will be given an opportunity to practice their reading skills. They will read aloud sections of the book. We will also learn skills that will make your child a better reader. Each lesson will include vocabulary from the chapters that we will be reading in class. We will practice summarizing and sequencing events in the story to encourage good reading comprehension. We will also practice making predictions about what will happen next. All of these skills are essential to developing strong readers!
