Students will be introduced to how both math and art play an important role in the worlds of architects, engineers, artists, and fashion designers. They will be shown how each of these jobs use a combination of mathematical concepts and artistic creativity! Students will use vocabulary and understanding of geometric principles to complete creative projects over four weeks. They will draw, cut, color and design artistic pieces using mathematical tools like rulers and geometric shapes.

Geometry has many different uses. These projects will teach students how to apply their knowledge
of geometric shapes to everyday life.

What students will be learning and exploring concepts/skills over four weeks:
Week 1 - Use of plane 2D shapes to create a drawing. Applying geometry to real life concepts.
Week 2 - Drawing straight lines to create the appearance of 3D images. Understanding of angles and vertices.
Week 3 - Using lines and color shading to create beautiful images. Introduction to artists like M.C. Escher.
Week 4 - Designing a cool perspective drawing. Students use lines and shapes to create the illusion of 3D image.
Week 5 - Becoming an architect when drawing a cityscape. Use principles from previous weeks to design and draw.
