小學生連貫寫作

Whether your learner is already passionate about writing or you are looking to cultivate a passion for writing join our class! "Ready to Write? Sequential Writing for Little Learners" is one class out of a series of classes I have developed for younger learners. Students have the opportunity to collaborate, build upon their pre-existing skills, and develop a deeper love for the art of writing. If you feel your writer is more advanced please look at my "Author at Work" series.

Each week we will read a new story and use it to compose our own piece by using sequential words such as first, next, then and last. Students will help me fill out our graphic organizer, if need be, to make sure we have our thoughts in order. Then we will practice our writing skills by writing a word, a sentence or even a few sentences to expand our thinking beyond the story that we read. Students can choose to add to the story we just read or create their own similar story.  And don’t worry about spelling! Even pseudo letters and pictures are a great start here. (:  If there is time at the end, students will have the opportunity to illustrate and share.

Week of March 31st - April 6th:

Prompt: How does your bedtime routine go?

Week of April 7th - April 13th:
         We Don't Eat Our Classmates by, Ryan T Higgins
 Prompt: Walk us through your school routine. What do we do when we first get to school? Next? Last?

Week of April 14th - April 20th:
        The Very Hungry Caterpillar by, Eric Carle
Prompt: If you were a hungry caterpillar what would you do and what would you eat?

Week of April 21st - April 27th:
       If you Give a Mouse a Cookie by, Laura Numeroff
Prompt: Have your mouse take you on an adventure!

Week of April 28th- May 4th:
       Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach by, Melanie Watt
Prompt: Describe a beach trip. Tell us what you do in order

Materials needed: 
-paper (lined or not! Though lined will help to keep our sentences aligned.) 
-a writing utensil (pencils preferred)

Disclaimer: If there are zero learners enrolled 24 hours before a meeting time then the meeting is presumed to be canceled.

Cancellation policy: As an ongoing class, learner subscriptions are charged on a weekly basis. If a learner is going to miss class please stop the subscription by the Saturday before to ensure you aren't charged. A refund will not be issued otherwise.
