In this two-day camp, students will practice letter names and letter sounds. This camp meets twice in one week.

***** BACKGROUND *****
Students must be fluent in their letter sounds before they can learn how to decode words effectively. Students must also be fluent in their letter names before they can easily learn how to spell. This course gives students practice in becoming fluent with the letter names and letter sounds. 

***** CLASS OVERVIEW *****
Each week, students will practice all letter names and sounds. Students will do a variety of fun activities and games to practice the letter names and sounds. There will be a different theme each class as students review the letter names and sounds.

       - Match letters to their correct sound

***** PREREQUISITE *****
Students need to have some knowledge of the letter names and their sounds.

       ** CLASS 1 - SNOWMAN THEME **

       - Letter Sound Check - Review each letter sound
       - Letter Naming Activity - Match lowercase and uppercase letters
       - Letter Writing Activity - Find letters on the snowman and write the letters
       - Letter Game - Collect Snowman Treats and identify letter names and letter sounds

     
       ** CLASS 2 - SLEDDING THEME **

        - Letter Sound Check - Review each letter sound
        - Letter Naming Activity - Match lowercase and uppercase letters 
        - Letter Writing Activity - Find letters hiding in the mountains
        - Letter Game - Go on a sled ride and identify letter names and letter sounds

***** MATERIALS *****
I will post any handouts needed for class in the classroom before each class. If you are unable to print the handouts, please have your learner bring a few pieces of paper to class. 

** AFTER CLASS **
I will post a pdf attachment with many different activities for students to do at home. You can do one page, a few pages, or all the pages. These pages will help students to continue practicing the letter sounds and letter names throughout the week.
