In this ongoing camp, we will learn about a range of academic writing styles including reports, articles and essays. Suitable for ESL learners. Essay writing is an important skill essential for academic excellence and personality development. Learners with good essay writing skills are able to develop expression and creativity through language and ideas. This class will give time to develop ideas, and practice essay writing, whilst also providing feedback each week. What themes will we write about? Week of 15/7/24 How to Write an Introduction How to Organise Paragraphs How to Include Evidence Week of 22/7/24 How to Write a Conclusion How to Write a Formal Letter How to Write a Report Week of 29/7/24 How to Write with Conditionals How to Write a Review How to Write with Adverbials Week of 5/8/24 How to Write in the Passive Form How to Write an Article Identifying Main Ideas and Supporting Evidence Week of 12/8/24 Analysing and Writing Topic Sentences Understanding the Main Ideas in Lectures Reading a Text to Prepare for a Tutorial Discussion Week of 19/8/24 Speaking in Seminars Reading, Making Notes and Summarising Understanding the Wording of Academic Tasks Week of 26/8/24 Understanding the Introduction of a Lecture Extracting Key Factual Information Writing a Description of Visual Information Week of 2/9/24 Recognising Key Information in a Lecture Presenting Visual Information Come to class prepared with your notebook and pens and ready to share your ideas and get writing!
