This is an ongoing class. Each week we will write a new creative story. During class I will introduce the title of the story for the week. We will then use a random generator to choose a character, and setting. Using the title as our guide to what the story will be out, learners will creative a silly story. Learners will be given a graphic organizer to brainstorm details and ideas for their story. This can be tricky but with the help of the character and setting generator, we will get our creative juices flowing. We will then write a draft of the story focusing on organization, details, descriptions, and dialogue. Learners will then be given some time to reread their stories, add any extra missing information and edit spelling, punctuation and grammar. Learners will be given time to read their stories aloud to peers. This is also where we will working on respectful listening skills and constructive criticism.

This course will help learners who feel stuck and not sure what to write. It will help build confidence in writing and an excitement for storytelling.

graphic organizer will be provided but plain paper is fine too lined paper for writing a story draft ( I would recommend a composition notebook or spiral notebook to keep stories in).
