This class is designed to be full of meaningful opportunities for language learners to practice speaking English with a native speaker. This class is on-going and will meet twice a week. The number of students in the class will be capped to give each student ample time to practice speaking with the teacher. 

Class structure:
Students will be greeted warmly, by name upon arrival. Students will have the opportunity to practice greetings by greeting the teacher and fellow students. (A few examples: What is your name? My name is Miss Lindsi. Nice to meet you! How are you today? I am fine, thank you!)

Students will hear and repeat Hello Rhymes to improve inflection, pronunciation and vocabulary. (How are you kangaroo?)

Students will practice saying calendar and weather phrases like: Today is Monday, June 8th. The weather is sunny. 

Students will participate in the Weekly Report. This is an opportunity for the students to share something memorable or fun they did over the weekend or earlier in the week. Parents may help their student to decide what they will share. The teacher will help the students to form sentences to tell about the event. They may also bring a photo, drawing or item to enhance their telling of their weekly report. Some examples: (This weekend I spent time with my Grandmother. We cooked a meal together in the kitchen.) OR (I went to school yesterday. I studied English and played with my friend.)

Students will hear a short English reader read aloud. They will be asked connection and comprehension questions during and after the story. The priority will be to give students ample opportunity for English output. The book will align with the weekly/monthly theme.
Themes include: farm animals, community helpers like firefighters, holidays, friendship, family, wild animals and MORE. 

Students will hear and sing an early learning concept song. Concepts include: colors, letters, letter sounds, numbers, shapes. Singing songs is a very effective and fun way for students to learn content in a memorable way! 

Students will bring an item that corresponds with the early learning concept.  For example: when we sing about the color RED, students can bring a toy or item from around the house that is RED! They will have the opportunity to share what they brought and if they feel comfortable, they can share 1-2 sentences about their item. "I have a red car. I like to play with cars."

Class will close by hearing and repeating Good Bye Rhymes to improve inflection, pronunciation, vocabulary and improve confidence when speaking English. (See you soon raccoon!)
