Books take us to new places, but sometimes it's more fun to travel with others. In this book club we will build fluency and engage in meaningful discussion, while expanding our understanding of literary devices. We will touch on flashback, foreshadowing, symbolism, false endings, characterization and voice (to name a few). All of the books I have chosen are modern reads, published within the last five years. Learners will stretch their imaginations and learn to think creatively about the story while learning or practicing: --listening and sharing --fluency --reading comprehension --recognizing story elements such as character, conflict, setting, plot, and theme --uncovering and understanding different story devices such as flashback, and foreshadowing
I have a BA in English and Early Childhood development, and have been teaching and tutoring reading for over 20 years.
