Throughout our learning journey, we will unravel the intricacies of the human body, discovering its incredible systems, organs, and functions. From the beating of our hearts to the sensations that touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing bring us, we'll dive deep into understanding the wonders of our own bodies. We will engage in hands-on activities, interactive experiments, and engaging discussions to deepen our understanding of our bodies and how they interact with the world around us. Through games, stories, and exploration, we'll unlock the secrets of our senses and discover how they shape our experiences. We will start with a hello song, end with a goodbye song, and do a little moving at the end of class. Extra Time will call for extra songs and games!

We will look at our brains and our nervous system, and our five senses.
We will read a book called "Our Brains" by Pamela Williams. We will play a game about our five senses and figure out which sense we would use the most with each object. We will look at the different parts of our amazing brains. We will talk about emotions and sing my version of "If You're Happy and You Know It". We will talk about touch and figure out what things might feel like. Is it hard or soft? Is it bumpy or smooth? We will look at our touch receptors. 30 分鐘線上直播課
課 2:
We will look at our heart and lungs today as well as our hearing.
We will look to see what the bones in our inner ear look like, we will read a book called, "My Heart and Lungs" by Pamela Williams. We will play a game where we will figure out what sounds we are hearing. We will watch as we look at the inside of our heart, find our heartbeat and see how our lungs work using models. We will do some moving to determine what happens with our hearts when we do. 30 分鐘線上直播課

We will look at our stomach, liver and intestines as well as our sense of taste.
We will read a book called, "My Digestive System" by Pamela Williams. We will look inside our mouths and look at our taste buds and play a game called, "Sweet, Sour or Salty". We will do an experiment and see what happens when we eat our food. We will talk about our favorite foods. We will talk about the function of our liver and what it does. We will watch our model and what happens when we eat our food from start to finish. 30 分鐘線上直播課
課 4:
We will talk about our bones and muscles our sense of touch and smell.
We will read a book about "Our Bones and Muscles - Working Together" by Pamela Williams. We will also look at how our nose works. Learners will determine if something might smell good or bad though game play. We will look at a model of our bones and muscles. We will look at our joints and see what they do and the different types we have in our bodies. 30 分鐘線上直播課

父母的引導和規範
We will be doing a movement activity at the end of each class. Be sure your child has room to move around without getting hurt. We will be jumping, running in place, stretching etc.

A Bit About Me:
I am passionate about learning and have been privileged to engage with over 900 learners from 25 countries since teaching my first class on Outschool in 2020. My classes span a range of ages and subjects, with a focus on full curriculum semester classes for preschool through third grade. I offer many craft classes, often by request, and I am always up for teaching a book club as I am an avid reader. I am always working on more too!
My Background:
With 40 years of teaching experience, I've held various roles, including Montessori teacher, private early elementary teacher, center director, preschool owner, homeschool co-op leader, and private tutor in math, writing, and early reading skills. In my previous position, I taught the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and I have incorporated many of the basic ideas into my personalized curriculum.
We homeschooled our daughter from preschool to eighth grade. I have run a homeschool co-op, a preschool program, an early learning center, and scouting groups. I have an educational background in Early Childhood Education and American Sign Language.
My Teaching Style:
I believe that learning needs to be fun, and listening is just as important as talking and teaching. I am not one to mute a learner unless necessary but I will encourage raising hands and taking turns during our games and discussions for all ages. I prioritize active participation and mutual respect.
Something Fun:
Crafting is a lifelong passion of mine, encompassing quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting, and jewelry making. I'm delighted to share my expertise through crafting classes on Outschool, and I'm always open to requests for new or existing classes.
Communication:
I strive to be responsive to emails, typically replying within a day. My teaching hours are from 8 am to 6 pm CST, during which I also attend to administrative tasks.
Missed Classes, Cancellations, Refunds:
I pride myself on being punctual and ready for class. We do live in Tornado Alley and take storms seriously since being hit by a tornado last March 2023. I try to warn ahead of time if possible. I will reimburse you for technical issues on my side or offer a single transfer for one-time classes if needed. I will teach only one or two students. Some of my best classes have happened with only one or two learners. It can make for great in-depth discussions!
