Students will learn four elements of the short story: characters, setting, conflict/climax and resolution.  Students will also be encouraged to trust in their own ideas and their own imaginations which in turn will build their creative skills and confidence. Students will combine the elements of the short story to create their own final body of written work.

In between sessions, students will be asked to organize their work by rewriting class notes and adding or subtracting details they like or dislike. Students are encouraged to send me their "in between class drafts" for feedback. While this is optional for each student, I have designed the class as a one (or two)-on-one (or two) dynamic specifically in order that I will be able to give your child the time they deserve to do their very best in their writing endeavor. Students will come to the following session with any questions or new ideas they may have noticed during the rewriting and organizing process. This does not have to take long and will depend entirely upon whether the student changes or adds to his or her ideas in between classes (which is perfectly fine!).
