This is a Self-Paced class. *NO LIVE MEETINGS* Come along with sisters, Katie and Lauren as they vacation in Venice Italy. This 7 chapter, easy reader fiction story is about a family that travels from their hometown of San Diego, California to Venice, Italy. We follow the ups and downs of our main character, Lauren, and her family while they explore many Venetian sites, food, culture, history, geography, art, and so much more. There will be at least two to three lessons per week in this self-paced class, including a slide presentation and video recording for each lesson. Students will engage in a discussion of the chapters by answering questions and writing in their notebook as well as participate in activities that support learning about Venice through spanning different subject areas such as geography, science, and art. Students will be exposed to different skill sets through activities that address different content areas. I will employ hands-on strategies, discussion, visuals through video clips and slide presentations. Your child can be at any reading level. Students can choose to listen to my read aloud of each chapter or they can read the chapter on their own, which will be provided in the classroom. This class is meant to supplement a social studies curriculum.

I have a multiple subject teaching credential and have taught k-12 in the public school system as well as in a homeschooling environment. I have traveled extensively and in homeschooling my own children through travel, I have been able to design a curriculum that really help children learn through experience. We can do this by actually physically going to a destination or by creating an amazing virtual experience. I have also traveled to Venice, Italy and have experienced the rich culture. My ancestors are from Genoa, Italy and which prompted me to study the language in order to communicate with my relatives. Having a second language is important to me. We were not able to move to Italy, but we did move to Costa Rica so that our children could become bilingual. This was an amazing gift for them. My son 22 has just finished his degree in Spanish and my daughter is in the middle of her studies with a major in Spanish.
