Interest in letters and the sounds that they make is encouraged and will grow as the class progresses.  
In class:
*we will greet each other and "warm-up our bodies" with varied movement activities
*we will use ZooPhonics cards to practice animal movements to accompany each letter/sound for our current "basket"
*we will use a colorful slideshow to introduce each letter/sound with picture representations of things that begin with each sound and will verbally call out each sound and object
*we may use the Three Period Lesson to practice recall and identification of each sound  
*we will play games like "I Spy" with picture of objects from our current "basket", and will review that day's sounds.
*if time allows, we will discuss other things that begin with the featured sounds and possibly have a Scavenger hunt for objects with those beginning sounds.  
*we always close class with a chance to share/show one thing that each child has brought to class
**Each Letter Sounds Section may be on a different set of letters, each week, as they have started on different dates.  Please keep in mind that all sections times are American EST (Eastern Standard Time) but Outschool should automatically adjust for your time zone:

Students will:
*learn the sounds that letters make through visual presentation and the Montessori Three Period Lesson.
*learn animal movements that represent each sound, using ZooPhonics.
*practice critical thinking and verbalization as they recall and speak the letter sounds and object names.
*move on to the next set of sounds when they have shown confidence and mastery of each set.
*have the opportunity to practice tracing and writing and sorting pictures that represent each sound.
*enhance listening, conversation and social skills.
