Students will learn to crochet their first scarf using yarn and a crochet hook. Taking my first Crochet a Chain Stitch Daisy is helpful for new students. If you don't see a time that works for you, please let me know and we can add the Daisy Chain Stitch Class at a time that works for us all. Students should know how to create a chain stitch before this class. I have been crocheting since I was 9 years old and truly love the craft! You’ll learn how to hold a crochet hook (lefty or righty) How to make a chain stitch, and single crochet stitch How to count stitches How to make rows of stitches How to bind off the yarn at then end of your scarf. Week 1 we will cover holding a crochet hook, and the yarn, how to make and count chain stitches, and begin making the “single” crochet stitch. Week 2 we will continue our adventure with the “single” crochet stitch, learning to count the stitches and make rows that build up to a scarf. We will practice adding yarn and ending our stitching Fun! In between class dates students will benefit from practicing each day. 10 minutes a day is a big help! Light colored yarns are better for beginners. No navy, black, dark purple please! Variegated, or yarn that changed colors is also a good choice.

You will need a small ball of yarn (look for worsted weight or something that seems “normal” to you. Nothing too fancy), a crochet hook (size H, I, or J is good, but anything that’s not too small if just fine), and a pair of scissors. At least 2 different colors of light colored yarns are better for beginners. No navy, black, dark purple please! Variegated, or yarn that changed colors is also a good choice.

Hi! I hold a BFA from Jersey City University and have been teaching a range of art and craft classes for the last 15+ years. I am a fine artist as well as a street artist having completed large and small murals in and around my community.
