Learners have fun with Rozine's curriculum which includes seasonal pop art, cartooning, and graphic design. During each session, students draw 2-6 Kawaii-inspired food characters of their choosing. During holidays, seasonal accessories can be added. This class can be taking multiple times, as each session provides opportunity to draw new foods. Rozine guides students step-by-step, drawing geometric shapes with pencil until the basic shape of the character is established. Through erasing...
Research shows there is a significant connection between arts and achievement. Drawing and coloring develops many talents, such as: • fine motor skills • spatial reasoning • objectivity • visualization • self-discipline • creative problem-solving
Since 2005, Rozine taught cartooning classes to elementary-aged, inner-city children in Chicago and Los Angeles. She is the illustrator, author, and publisher of several all-age coloring activity books. She creates a relaxing atmosphere, encouraging connection amongst others, as well as confident self-expression.
Students will need either a sketchpad, or 5-10 sheets of drawing or printer paper. Pencils and erasers are a must. Coloring utensils can be crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers. A Sharpie marker is optional. Students can frame their artwork by stapling or taping it to a larger sheet of colored construction paper (also optional).
