課堂經歷
Welcome to Knitting Basics! You new knitter does not need any background knowledge before attending this class. However, prior to attending this class, please ensure he/she has a pair of knitting needles (I recommend size 8 or larger) and some yarn (a chunky, heavier weight yarn that is one solid color) is best for beginners). Topics will include: *making a slip knot *cast on (2 methods) *knit stitch *purl stitch *cast off (2 methods) This class will utilize the Outschool classroom to pace instruction and provide due dates for specific interaction as well as a "virtual classroom" in order to access the materials which consist of written directions with photos as well as video instruction for each skill. Each learner will have access to the full range of instructional videos and written directions via a "virtual classroom" housed in Google slides so that the pace of your individual learner can be adjusted to reduce frustration of those that may learn more quickly than this flex course is paced. Students will have the opportunity to get feedback from the teacher and and interact with peers in the class by posting pictures and/or videos of each skill learned in the class. Each skill taught will have a specific due date by which photos and videos must be posted. Due dates will be as follows: Day 3: Backwards e cast-on Day 6: Long-tail cast-on Day 11: Knit stitch Day 16: Purl stitch Day 21: Simple cast-off Day 24: I-cord bind-off Day 25-26: Select a method of cast on, a stitch (or two!) to and a bind off to create your first knitted swatch of fabric! Day 27-28: Final project uploads in the asynchronous posts in the Outschool classroom and discussion in a live meeting for students to meet the teacher and each other and show off the results of their new knitting skills. In addition to these due dates, discussion questions and "What went wrong?" activities will be posted in the Outschool classroom for students to respond to the teacher and to each other in order to encourage an interactive experience as well as foster a deeper understanding of the process and identify common mistakes learners may encounter as they progress in their skills. *Please note that although there are specific dates which material (instructional videos, written instructions) will be provided in the Outschool classroom and due dates by which your learner is required to post progress, your student will have access to ALL instructional material via the "MW Virtual Classroom" provided on the first day of class so they can truly progress at their own pace. Learners who pick up knitting quickly and naturally will have the opportunity to move as quickly as they would like using the virtual classroom. In addition, there will be extra activities linked to this slide so that your learner can learn more than just the process of knitting. Feel free to explore this virtual classroom and make suggestions if there is more you'd like to see or learn about!
