Kit Learns a Lesson by Valerie Tripp
This book takes place during Thanksgiving, but we will not be discussing elements of the "First Thanksgiving." There is a scene in the story that involves a school pageant where the children are dressed up as "Indians." We will address that it is no longer considered appropriate to dress up in this way and how it may be offensive to some. We will discuss how Kit corrected Roger on his views of the Native Americans and showed empathy.
