Animal lovers who are looking to develop basic kitchen skills will love this animal-themed cooking class! We will focus on basic, age-appropriate kitchen skills such as spreading and cutting (very soft items, like banana). Kitchen safety will also be a part of the course, particularly when we use a knife. (Because of the age of our young chefs, adult guidance is recommended.) 4 lessons//4 Weeks
Week 1Lesson 1Roaring Lion BagelsWe will practice spreading while decorating a bagel half to look like a roaring lion.Week 2Lesson 2Teddy Bear ToastWe will practice spreading while decorating toast to look like a bear. We will also practice cutting and review knife safety.Week 3Lesson 3Pig BagelsWe will practice mixing and spreading. Then we will practice cutting and review knife safety.Week 4Lesson 4Chick Bento BoxIn this lesson, we will practice cutting while putting a complete lunch together and decorating it.
Students will practice basic kitchen skills, such as measuring, mixing, cutting, and safety.
Lesson 1 - Roaring Lion Bagels - a bagel half, your favorite spreadable (peanut butter, hummus, etc.), thin pretzel sticks, chocolate chips Lesson 2 - Teddy Bear Toast - a piece of toast, your favorite spreadable, banana, chocolate chips Lesson 3 - Pink Pig Bagels - a bagel half, red food coloring, a light colored spreadable (cream cheese, hummus, etc.), strawberry, chocolate chips, decorating gel Lesson 4 - Chick Bento Box - sliced cheese or deli meat, bread, lettuce, shredded carrot, egg, raisins (or similar size, like chocolate chips), finger foods (crackers, chopped veggies, etc.)
Adult supervision may be needed when we use kitchen tools, such as knives. Please check ingredient lists for allergens.
