Throughout the course, students will embark on a historical journey, delving into key periods such as life before slavery, slavery, oppression, segregation, discrimination, the Civil Rights, and the current times.

This journey aims to provide a greater understanding of how certain factors and periods of time affect and shaped the lives of the Black community.

The learning experience will be enhanced through active classroom discussions and interactive classroom activities, which will encourage students to actively engage with the material and to participate in class discussions.

Teacher will use slides, discussions, handouts and a 
comprehensive assessment which will encompass the materials covered in the classroom. These slides are teacher created with no graphics. 

This topic may be classified as a sensitive topic. Teacher will create discussion rules and share the rules in beginning of each day when the class starts. If students get off topic, teacher will gently guide students back on the correct path. Teacher will watch for signs of discomfort during the class. Teacher will be prepared to lighten the atmosphere or heavy discussion with a quick writing or other activity.
